The General Manager (GM) oversees all aspects of the Fixed Base Operation (FBO) and is responsible for customer relations, safety, financial performance, airport regulations, facility maintenance, and company goals. The GM must effectively lead associates in delivery of exceptional customer service while maintaining all safety and quality standards.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Establishing a culture that promotes safety through audits, shift briefings, safety meetings, training and compliance with documented safety procedures
  • Maintaining proper staffing levels and scheduling associates to meet business level operations
  • Planning, directing, and coordinating activities for the sale of general aviation support services such as fuel, hangar space, office rental, and other associated services
  • Managing P&L to include capital expenditures, forecasting, budgeting, auditing, and other expenses
  • Overseeing line service operations and customer service operations, fueling, and maintenance including financial management, customer/tenant interaction, and negotiating aircraft hangar leases and fuel agreements
  • Maintaining department staffing requirements by leading recruiting, selection, and training of employees
  • Overseeing inventory and quality control of fuels and fluids
  • Maintaining facility, grounds, equipment, and general security
  • Managing service records for business operations and equipment maintenance schedules
  • Leading local management team in coaching, counseling, disciplining, and evaluating employee performance
  • Assisting in the preparation of operating budgets, fuel contracts, and tenant agreements
  • Conducting ongoing analysis of competition to including service offerings and price competitiveness
  • Creating new opportunities by developing relationships with customers, tenants, and airport authorities
  • Ensuring the accuracy of information through various means of communication (radio, telephone, electronic, etc.)
  • Leading company communications and necessary training supporting customer service and safety initiatives
  • Other duties as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to see and hear clearly

Other Requirements

  • Experience and knowledge of general aviation operations
  • Understanding of regulations and guidelines applicable to aircraft line service operations
  • In-depth knowledge of all refueling equipment and procedures
  • Working knowledge of FlightAware and Total FBO
  • Ability to tow all general aviation aircraft
  • Ability to interact well with local/state/federal governmental personnel and agencies
  • Ability to operate computer and type effectively
  • Ability to write legibly
  • Ability to interpret financial income statements and various performance metrics
  • Must possess a valid US driver’s license
  • Must pass background check
  • Must be able to attain and retain badging for airport access
  • Ability to pass drug screen


  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Aviation Management or related field preferred
